From Challenger to Contender: Zooki's Digital Transformation in the Supplements Market

Zooki is a UK-based health and wellness brand on a mission to create the world's most effective health products. The brand specialises in clinically proven and multi-award-winning liposomal supplements available in the UK and the US.

Zooki approached us as a challenger brand in the crowded supplement market, aiming to elevate its online presence and build a subscription brand.

the challenge

Despite already having an established retail presence in major retail locations like Planet Organic, Holland & Barrett, and Superdrug, Zooki sought to strengthen its position within the crowded supplement market and expand through direct-to-consumer (DTC) and online channels.

Zooki had experimented with Google and Meta ads in the past, but without a clear strategy or knowledge, ad performance was poor, leading them to scale back and take a break. They needed Vagabond's expertise to help them grow.

our solution

Phase 1: Laying solid strategic and account structure foundations

In the early stage of the project, our objective was to overhaul Zooki’s PPC approach with a new structure designed for precision and scalability.

We developed sophisticated PPC account structures that allowed us to refine our targeting and reach. By prioritising organised, segmented and clearly defined targeting, we were able to refine ad reach and, therefore, optimise bidding strategies.

We also launched granular keyword targeting campaigns and built audience-based targeting models to align ad content with user interest, improving click-through rates and enhancing market penetration.

Our team then maximised ad spend across high-intent segments by creating customised ad groups based on product categories, purchase behaviours, and retargeting pools. This allowed us to optimise and direct spend to audiences that were more likely to convert.

Phase 2: Creative Development and Content Collaboration

The objective of the project's second stage was to establish a robust, engaging brand presence for the brand through high-quality creative tailored for paid social channels.

Customer acquisition is essential if the brand wants to achieve this growth, and paid social is the best way to get in front of customers in an engaging way. So finding the right creative strategy for Zooki and its customers was essential.

The Vagabond team collaborated closely with Zooki’s in-house creative team and a selected group of brand advocates to develop visually compelling, on-brand content that would resonate across social platforms.

We focused on crafting ads that balanced brand storytelling with conversion-focused messaging, blending lifestyle visuals with clear product benefits to capture attention and encourage purchase.

Once we had nailed the creative, we ran paid social campaigns with a variety of ad formats, including carousel ads, short-form videos, and interactive Stories, designed to captivate the audience and drive conversion rates.

We used motion analytics to continuously evaluate and optimise the performance of ad creatives throughout the campaigns.

Stellar Performance Outcomes. The strategic overhaul resulted in a 400% improvement in overall performance and a monumental 750% surge in online sales, cementing Zooki's position as no longer a challenger brand but an established brand, shaking up the supplements market.

Our strategic pivot not only boosted Zooki’s revenue and amplified Zooki's brand presence but also attracted significant investment for the brand, which helped propel the brand from a challenger to a recognised contender in the crowded supplement space. Additional details on their investment milestones can be explored through various news articles that highlight Zooki's ascent in the industry.
